Joe successfully completed his brutal multi-day riding tour of Umbria. There were up to three segments per day with insane climbing. The views and food were worth the hard work!
Next up was the newly formed CT 70.3, formerly Quassy 70.3 where John, Rob, Ulrika, Stephen and Jacob all raced. Three of them were first time 70.3 athletes, and for two it was their first triathlon ever!!
Carmen worked so hard on her swim stroke at the CZC Winter Swim Clinic this year!
John was all smiles post race! It got hot out there, and the new format was brutal on the run along the highway per the reports.
I got to spend most of my day while waiting with the awesome Julie Gabay, owner of Pacific Cycling & Triathlon in Stamford, CT. Thanks for this awesome post Julie!
Congratulations Ulrika on your first ½ Ironman!!!! You are going to crush Ironman Sweden!!
Next up was the Seaside Sprint where Paul, our athlete and local hero won first male overall in the Duathlon AGAIN! and Grethe won first woman overall in the triathlon!
The Seaside Sprint was this past weekend, and well done to Nikki & Kera for taking 2nd and 3rd in their division, and for a solid strong comeback race for Peter!
Jon & Alex crushed the Fairfield ½ Marathon achieving their goals and prepping for LP 70.3 and the Rio marathon, respectively.
I’m so sad to wish a fond farewell to a dear friend and coached athlete, Liz. She’s off back to Australia. I can’t wait to visit her next year, and she had this wonderful bag made for me with my tag line, “Just Get On Your Bike And Ride” which was my motto to complete the 2007 edition of Paris-Brest-Paris. Sniff, Sniff, Bye Liz!!!!!
And thank you to three of my amazing Mountain Biking Assistant Coaches, Liam, Louie & Jobson! They are so amazing and are enabling more youth to learn to shred the trails and love cycling! Woohoo! Thanks Guys! Not present are assistant skills coaches Kevin & Chuck, thank you too guys! See you in the fall youth mountain bikers and cyclocross riders!
Stay Cool!
