HOW TO START HIKING & RUNNING TRAILS – A RESOURCE GUIDE

I love to be outdoors, and more specifically in the woods or on a mountain. I wasn’t always this way.  While a comfortable tomboy growing up, it wasn’t until I followed through with a scholarship to Colorado that I experienced mountains and trails for the first time.  With a college group called Wilderness Pursuits and newly made mountaineering friends, I became an experienced mountaineer myself!

There is SO much to discover and enjoy by hiking running trails.  It starts at a trailhead, or the beginning of a trail.  It’s up to you where you’ll go, but you may not be sure where to start.  Some trails are well established, worn down dirt, rocks or even cinder path.  Other trails are simply denoted by hash marks on trees or cairns of rocks either deeply embedded in the woods or high up mountains in scree fields.

Thoughts of entering the trees and heading into the unknown can be intimidating for the uninitiated, but with some useful tips and resources, you’ll find the way through.  With modern technology and apps, the hiking and trail running world has significantly opened up to nearly everyone.

We will be introducing you to the best resources available to find your way in upcoming videos.  My goal is to enable you to find your trail, your sense of wander, and to give you the freedom to explore.

We are excitedly launching a series of Hiking & Trail Running videos and podcasts through our channels on both YouTube and on the Outside TV Campfire Channel, and where podcasts are available.
